14A- Halfway Reflection

1) What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course?
-I have made sure to stay on top of my work, meaning to get the assignments done by Tuesday/Wednesday to not stress before the deadline of 12pm of Friday. The 12pm deadline is unique and hard to get used to at first, but if you make sure to get them done a few days before you will not run into this issue. As of now it is just habit since I have made it a routine to get them done early which frees up the rest of my week for other classes.

2) Moments about giving up. What pulled you through? A tenacious attitude the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?
-I felt like giving up a few times this semester which was when we had to come up with our business idea and missing the deadline for a peer review. What pulled me through is I just had to relax with the business idea and think about personal issues I have that could have a resolution. Textbooks and the cost of them came to mind and lead me to my business plan. For the deadline, I did the reviews but forgot to declare that I did them and realized 10 mins too late and pulled through by learning my lesson and making sure it does not happen again. I do not think "tenacious attitude" would be the term to describe what I have developed just do to the way I look at things. Taking this class has led me to looking at everything in life as people being entrepreneurs. Examples would be car salesmen, hot dog stands, or even kids selling waters after the Florida football game. The tenacious attitude would come in with my business plan and working hard to create a good model to succeed. The elevator pitch is a great experience that contributes to the tenacious attitude.

3) Three tips about fostering the skills that support tenacity and developing the tenacious mindset.
1- Stay on top of your work and make sure to get all the assignments done before deadline.
2- Go to lecture and participate to make the assignments easier and learn concepts.
3- For peer reviews, give good feedback and refer back to points Dr. Pryor makes in lecture to maximize you understanding of the material.

Work hard and approach this class with the tenacious mindset of always hustling to get things done.

  1. Alex,
I think that your halfway reflection had a lot of good tips and advice. I definitely agree with many things that you said in this post. Namely, I think that the deadline for this class is very unique and that can throw off a lot of students. I think most students in this class have probably missed an assignment here or there so the tenacity is very important. In the future, you could format this post differently to make it more readable. One way to do this is by bolding or underlining sections; like your number list of tips (Bold the 1, 2, and 3).

  2. Hi Alex,
Like you I try and get my assignments done as early as possible in the week to make sure I do not get behind. I also liked your suggestion of going to the live lectures. I cannot make the live lectures myself and I feel that I definitely miss out on some stuff just watching it on my computer. Great post!

  3. Hi Alex,
I think that your method of completing the assignments a few days in advance is extremely smart, as some of them can be more demanding than others and the noon deadline is definitely difficult to get used to. Personally, I know that it took some adjusting of my schedule and habits in order to be able to remember that the assignments were due at noon instead of midnight, as is the case with many classes. I also had to adjust my habits in order to remember that I had to declare the completion of my assignments, so you’re not alone in that regard either. Overall, your post was great and contained very relatable content!
